Nieuwe Trias Energetica

Wanneer het over duurzaamheid gaat zijn de meeste mensen wel bekend met de Trias Energetica. Ook zijn er al meerdere aanvullingen en aanpassingen op deze basis drie-traps-raket opgevoerd. De originele versie van de Trias Energetica laat inderdaad nog teveel ruimte over voor fossiele brandstoffen. Voor deze fossiele brandstoffen is in deze tijd echt geen plaats meer.

Stap ‘1. Maximale beperking van de energievraag’ blijft staan. Natuurlijk wel met de kanttekening dat de materialen waarmee de energievraag wordt beperkt niet zélf een grote bron van energieverspilling en milieuvervuiling zijn. In het vastgoed kunnen we de energievraag uitdrukken in kWh/m2/jr, zodat op dit punt goede kansen liggen voor benchmarking. De eerste versie van BENG legde de lat hoog: 25 kWh/m2/jr. Dat is dus haalbaar!

Stap 2 ‘Optimale toepassing van duurzame energie’ zou ik willen wijzigen in ‘2. Eigen energieproductie’. Elke locatie en elk gebouw heeft kansen om energie te produceren. Deze tweede stap wil stimuleren om naar de mogelijkheden te kijken om energie te oogsten. Bekend is dat in combinatie van een goede eerste stap, dit al tot energie-leverende gebouwen kan leiden.

Stap 3 ‘Efficiënt aanspreken van fossiele bronnen’ wordt wat mij betreft ‘3. Uitwisseling in een netwerk’. Op basis van het resultaat van voorgaande stappen blijft nog een restvraag of een restaanbod over. In een netwerk met bijvoorbeeld Decentrale Energie Centrales of elektrische auto’s kan in de uitwisseling naar een balans voor het hele systeem worden gezocht. Gelukkig zijn er steeds meer technologieën voor energie-opslag, zodat de uitwisseling ook in de tijd verspreid kan plaatsvinden.

Doordat er helemaal geen fossiele brandstoffen meer in de Trias Energetica voorkomen op deze manier, kunnen zelfs gebouwen met een slechte energieprestatie (zowel in isolatiewaarde als in energieopwekking) tóch echt duurzaam zijn. Voorwaarde is een goede duurzaamheid op gebiedsniveau.
